Summer's here! It's a fine season for many things: picnics, beach trips, vacations, backyard cookouts, family reunions, renovations, and public road work projects. Summer does have its downsides, however. For one thing, the season's often hard on drywall.

To save you from total ruin, we've put together three quick preventative tips.

Tip One: Check Your A/C Units

Like many home systems and appliances, air conditioning units have a way of going bonkers just when you need them the most. Naturally, you need your A/C units the most in the summer months (unless you live in Florida, in which case the time you need them the most is always). Unfortunately, when A/C units go awry, they often leak, and water damage is no good for drywall.

Be sure to check your A/C unit often to ensure that everything's in working order, especially toward the beginning of summer. A little bit of preventative cleaning and maintenance can save you from water damage down the road.

Tip Two: Mind the Kids

In most cases, summer means the kids are home from school. Since they're in the house more often, and since many of them have nothing but time on their hands, they get up to all sorts of hijinks. Keeping an extra eye or two on the kids is a good idea for many reasons, not the least of which is that it can keep you apprised of hairbrained ideas they might have--hairbrained ideas that could cause damage to your drywall.

Tip Three: Install Corner Guards

Installing corner guards is one of the simplest, easiest, and most practical things you can do to protect your drywall. For homes, businesses, and service facilities, corner guards can act as a safeguard against most routine damage that threatens your vulnerable interior corners. Stainless steel, aluminum checker plate, industrial, and heavy duty--no matter what you're looking for, we have a guard that can help.
